After The Buzz About Android Nougat Dies Down, What Will Be Next On Android?

Android O

Google dropped Android 7 Nougat on August 2016 and the 7.1 beta version will soon show up on our radar.

Android Nougat came with so many fascinating features. New Android phones running on the Android Nougat 7 out from the box is so amazing, the U.I is superb and gives the user a smooth experience.

The buzz about Android 7 is almost coming to an end as other phones have already started receiving their own update to android 7 and Android developers are dishing out Android 7 custom Roms for older devices, soon the new version of Android will satisfy the Millions of hungry Android fans who can’t wait to get an experience. This leaves us with a question. What is next for Android?

This is 2017, and the Google I/O conference is fast approaching, the conference will take place starting 17th – 19th of May 2017 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, Califonia. This is where Google will announce the new version of Android OS.

Considering the normal naming trend Google takes in naming their products, you might pound on your chest like a proud Gorilla because you already know Google names its android version with the name of sweet treats and in an alphabetical order. We have witnessed the following names:

  • Cupcake
  • Donut
  • Éclair
  • Frozen Yogurt (Froyo)
  • Gingerbread
  • Honeycomb
  • Ice cream sandwich
  • Jellybean
  • KitKat
  • Lollipop
  • Marshmallow
  • Nougat

So, from the names above you see Google will be looking for a sweet treat that its name begins with an O. But the problem is they really aren’t that many. The only name that could come to my memory was orange (I love that a lot). Until I did a little research to come up with some more, which includes: Oreo and Oh! Henry. But definitely, we all know that the new Android version will start with an O, so, for now, let’s call it Android O.

Then again. Given that Android recently started following a serial numbering pattern for their versions, the first thing that will come to your mind will be that the Android O will be numbered Android 8 after the Nougat was named Android 7.X and Marshmallow got 6. But don’t forget the old versions ice cream sandwich, jellybean and KitKat all got compressed into Android 4.X.

To cap it up, you now know a little bit about Android’s next version, at least we know that the name will be Android O, but what that O will stand for is still a misery, only Google’s Android team knows about.

Until the Google’s I/O conference starts, let us play the guessing game, what do you think the O in Android O will stand for? Hit the comment box up with your answer.
